We have the bug! The travel bugs, on this trip with the RV and the "traveling house" the kids get it. They want to travel wide and far and take the ice cream with us. I have to admit we get off to a rocky start, we get the smallest RV position for a family of four...but it's still kinda um, BIG. It's a moving, driving house afterall and it's traveling on the expressway.
The RV
We rented the RV from Cruise America. It was definitely an "experience". We were in over our heads, but in traveling alot of it is and going with the flow is half the fun. We were ready to go, but dang this thing is big. A short tutorial and we're sent off! It reminds me of bringing home our first born from the hospital..."You're just going to let us take him home? But what are we supposed to do with him? Isn't there a class we have to take first?", that's the same feeling I had with this RV. Steve's a good driver, a great driver...so I left him with the keys, kissed him, wished him luck and then got comfy....well next this thing is LOUD. Everything rattles and shakes and vibrates, you can't hear anything but the noise from within. A few hours and a major headache later we make it to Rhode Island, our first state to visit. Our first official state that we get to check "off" the list
Rhode Island
With the adive of a couple of friends we did Rhode Island right! We had Del's Lemonade and delicious sea food. We enjoyed the Cliff Walk with gorgeous views of the ocean.
Massachusetts
We took our big, loud RV to Martha's Vineyard. We most certainly did not fit in...this definitely made things comical. Martha's Vineyard is so pretty. It's pedestrian friendly, great beaches, and the campground was family friendly and clean. I really want to return though, with just Steve to enjoy the island as grownups. We'll be back. The locals food we tried was the quahog. The kids got a hoot of the all the Jaws references.
New Hampshire
We looked and looked for moose in New Hamsphire and never made a sighting, what a bummer! The White Mountains and hiking some of the Appalachian Trail was a hit. On the coast we ate and ate lobster.
Maine
Acadia National Park, Bar Island. Plus lobster rolls and lobster rolls. We all collectively want to go back to Maine. It's just stunning!
